Volunteers

Masonic Homes value our volunteers and welcomes their assistance at all of our facilities.

Due to their varied interests and backgrounds, our volunteers provide a vast array of different experiences to our residents and share their valuable experience and expertise with our staff.

Activities volunteers assist Masonic Homes with include:

  • Assist residents with art and craft activities
  • Facilitate a poetry reading group or bingo
  • Select, deliver and collect library books to/from residents
  • Assist with beauty therapy activities including nail painting and hand massages
  • Facilitate a formal church service
  • Assist with transporting residents in wheelchairs to their chosen activities
  • Facilitate a singing group
  • Take residents for walks in their wheelchairs
  • Providing live music for sing-a-longs and church service

Anyone can apply to volunteer with us.  A police clearance is required (at Masonic's expense if you don't have a current one) and applicants have an informal interview to determine why they wish to volunteer with us and what activities they can assist with.

Masonic Homes' volunteers are provided with training at the time of their induction and on a yearly basis to ensure that they contribute to a safe work place environment for everyone.

Recognition of the worth of our volunteers is very important to Masonic Homes, with yearly presentations of long service badges and social functions organised to highlight the valuable input these hard working people make to the daily lives of our residents.
